Mid-semester Tests

I am woefully behind in updating since the weeks have been hectic.

I did my first ever mid-semester test in the University on 3rd October, and even though I really put in a lot of effort, the difficulty of the paper killed me.

I got stuck doing MCQs and when I realised I spent too much time on that, I quickly jumped to the short-answer questions. I was slowly doing question 1 and when it was announced that there were only 15 minutes left, I panicked and the rest was history.

My mind went blank and I literally feel cold sweat breaking out. I have never ever experience such a thing before. I scribbled what I can and did the few MCQs left without much thinking. I will be lucky if I pass, that is how bad it is.

I didn't have much time to study for history test which took place the next day. However, I feel that I have done quite alright. We'll see when the results are back. There must be at least one test where I have to do well. If not, it's a double-whammy to my self.

No Rest for the Weary

It's been a busy week and more to come. What else is new right?

This week, it's all about touching up on projects and studying for the mid-semester tests. I like to do things one at a time, but alas, the schedule hardly allows me to do so.

3 days of evening tests makes me a unhappy person. It means going home late, and seriously, 3 days of exams in a row?

I'm kind of in a blank, so there's nothing much to write on. There is no chance to enjoy the last semester of the polytechnic life.

Deed is Done

The deed is done. My mind is blissfully blank now.

I can't think of anything of import. It's almost a poor choice to organise a meeting tonight. Sighs.

It's the end of the Mid-semester tests apparently. Let's just say we'll see when the results are out.

How Blue Are You?

"Let's talk Blue Ocean"
-
Make your competitors irrelevant by finding that Blue Ocean. Alas, in exams, we can only fight in bloody red oceans, where sharks and barracudas circled.
-
It's that time again, when Mid-semester tests hit. I have 2 mid-semester tests this time round, adding on to the 2 tests done last week.
-
Managerial Accounting 1 test today was kind of alright, dare I say, easy. It was straightforward and I must get an A or else. But, I already knew I had 2 mistakes for MCQs. What can I say?
-
Wednesday's paper will be Strategic Entrepreneurship. It will be challenging, to quote the teacher. Ahhh, I sure hope for the best. He gives vague tips and is generally an elusive person. Sighs.
-
At least 4 As is my goal this term. I really have to keep up, if not improve my GPA. This term looks to be the toughest yet. I am so worried about the group projects. I am afraid of delivering less-than-stellar work.

Wrapped Up

Seems like I've been on hiatus for quite time.

Mid-semester tests were over and that's that. Franchising Business paper was, surprisingly, pretty alright. I think I managed to get the points right, it all boils down to how I explain them and whether the teacher thinks they are fine. 1 hour is really not enough to be writing essays. I'm hoping to get at least a B+ for Franchising Business, at least for 25%.

The 2 weeks holidays has begun. Can't say I love it. Maybe it's love with a hatred. This holiday is just another time to catch up on deadlines and it totally kills the mood. Most people I know of are enjoying the year end while for me, it's work as usual. Not that this is the first time I'm experiencing it. However, year 2 does seem so different from year 1.

I have hopes that in this tight schedule of mine, I can find some time to enjoy and relax, which is exactly what I've been doing until today.

I just realised I'm running out of time to complete what I should be doing. I need to make lists. I need to prioritise, damnation. It's just that everyday I wake up, I have in no condition to get down to business. It must the year-end and festive bug.

Christmas is nearly upon us, again. This is the time when the nostalgia and something quite difficult to put in words hit me with a force. I wish for the 'perfect" Christmas season, with the snow, the feasts, the decorations, the sound of carols, the sight of shoppers and windows displaying the finest, the works... *Sighs* It's a dream, for sure.

I do love this festive season. I do wish for the getaway to get away from it all. But, I don't think we're going anywhere this year. Oh well, more the time for me to complete my stuff.

The first week of term 2 is surely a lazy one. What with Tuesday being an off day, Friday being the New Year. Too bad we have to go to school on Thursday which is a New Year's Eve, nevermind the fact it's only for 30 minutes on a 9am slot.

*Le Gasp* Is 2010 nearly upon us? When have time move so fast? It seems like yesterday that I'm still enjoying my year 1.2.

As 2009 comes to a standstill, I'll end it with a quote from Bella in New Moon.

Soon.

Mid-sem tests & updates

I'm finally back! *Deep breath* Feels good to write again!

For almost one week, I've been trying to keep my mind free from "clutter". All that is allowed in my head are theories and information. It's really taxing. I've always been the dreamer, the one who come up with fantasy plots for "stories" and anything that goes.

Now, my mind is free! I'm free! I can continue with the "stories" in my head. They are the fanfictions that I never penned on paper.

Mid-semester tests started on Monday, 1st June.

MBS paper was first. I always study the most for the first paper. It was fine, actually. I just studied all those notes covered in the revision lecture and I think it was great. I did get some MCQs wrong though, that I know that much. The case-study should be alright. An A for this paper!

Tuesday was supposed to the day where we see whether we got into the electives that we chose. I did not go back. Who will want to spend almost 3 hours journey to and fro just to get know that? But, due to some "technical difficulties", they postponed the release date.

My friend's and my theory? We reckon that administrative staff don't have enough time to allocate the electives so they postpone the date. Well, regardless, this Monday, 8th June, I'll know if I got into Entrepreneurship and Tourism electives.

Business Finance is my pet subject this term. Last year was Economics. For some reason, I've high expectations for it and I expect myself to score. Furthermore, the first 5 chapters are the easiest, so I'm digging my grave if I don't do well.

Unfortunately, my mind went blank the moment I read the questions. I didn't know if I should use average long-term needs or full 12-months long-term needs to calculate. I studied that so many times and yet I forgot. Initially, I use full 12-months long-term needs, towards the end of the test, I decided to switch.

Thank god for that! There really is a god, at least in my world.

The same for the other question. I cleanly forgot the formula for that calculation and wrote the wrong one first. I changed it and this time, I think I should get it correct. Am I lucky or is my sub-conscious trying to surface?

The other questions should be fine.

Today was HRM paper. The last one and I got the jitter-bug. I studied all those notes covered in the revision lecture and nothing more than that. I was worried that the lecturer may trick us.

I went to the room, read the questions, and silently cheered. Yes! The MCQs are so easy. I should be scoring full marks for it, unless there's something wrong with my eyes. The mini case-studies are great too. Although, I'm worried that I didn't write enough information. I mean, what they asked, I wrote the answers down. But is that enough? I did give definitions though.

I think my common-sense always deserts with me. Things often work with common-sense, but for me, it's just difficult.

Crossing my fingers that I'll get 80% for all the 3 papers. Mid-semester tests are the easiest to score, I should do that to help myself.

I depend very much on internal and external factors in this kind of scenario. Internal being, I will study hard for tests. External being, I believed in prayers, lucky charms (four-leaves clover) and all that.

School's out! And my friend is coming to Singapore! Yay!

Someone is playing a trick on me.

I wished that H1N1 Flu will hit Singapore last time so that maybe school will be closed. Now, it's really here, with 11 cases so far and what? My friend, from USA, is scheduled to reach Singapore on Sunday.

Among those 11 cases of H1N1 Flu, most of the patients went to USA. I don't want things to get mess up... That's all I'll say.

I've lots of things to do this holiday. Pictures will be updated next.

Outing with friends and mid-semester marks

Went out with 4s3 friends yesterday. Met at Yo Chu Kang MRT station and went to Sakura buffet first. But, since the buffet closes at 3pm, and some guys were still not there, we changed location.

Walked all the way to Ang Mo Kio, my feet were aching really badly. Went to Suki Sushi, however, there was no buffet available because it was a public holiday. Walked to Ang Mo Kio hub to try Ichiban Sushi, but also no buffet available.

Headed down to New York New York in the end. Wow, the food there is quite expensive. Shared a seafood platter with my other two girl friends. Didn't finished it though.

Chatted about our school lives and such. Went to Arcade, we didn't play though.

Although it was just us 3 girls, with the guys, it was still great. We hardly get to see each other after all.

Got back my mid-semester results today. Got 45/50 for Business Statistics, 34/45 for Business Accounting 2 and 22.5/30 for Organisation Behaviour.

Quite happy for my OB marks. So many things to memorise but still make it.

I should be content with my marks for Business Accounting 2 but I can't help feeling a little disappointed too. My aim is to get at least 70% for the paper. I got 68%. I've no idea why I reject BA from the moment I see it. It can't be the numbers, can it? Regardless, I don't have that high expectations for BA2.

Business Statistics marks cheered me up. Got to keep it there. It's my hope, together with MacroEcons.

Next week, we will be getting back Marketing and MacroEcons papers. I'm worry for the both of them, especially Marketing.
