The day of reckoning is soon to descend

Goodness, I feel almost guilty for not putting in enough effort for my World Issues test on the morrow. There, I said it.

Nonetheless, I have high hopes because one, I must do well to get that A, two, it's common sense and not pure mugging for World Issues. I just hope that my common sense is intact tomorrow.

I've sooo many things going on. It's almost like Lou in The Gift, having to be in 2 places at one.

I promise myself this post is going to be short as I still have to re-read my last pages of New Moon. Initially, I wanted to post about the seating arrangements for the movie and other stuff. That will have to wait.

I can't believe after all the good comments about the movie in the last couple of weeks, I have the misfortune of hearing bad things today. Whatever, you know? As a fan, if I like it, that's what that matters. I shouldn't let all these naysayers spoil my mood. They are not fans and supporters to begin with anyway. They don't know what fans want to see and what Chris Weitz had in mind.

Are they the ones who bring NM to the top 5 spot in the highest-grossing movies in 2009? Ultimately, I will pass my judgement tomorrow. Until then, I will let good vibes come my way and lose myself.

As the last hour ticks by, 3th December will be nearly upon us. The feeling of anticipation is calming down.

Heartbeat beating

Booked my tickets for the movie event!

Technically, I booked it last Friday, despite that, I still lose the "best seats in house". So, I had to settle for second.

My twilighter cousin and brothers will be going along. I sure hope I can get there with time to spare to collect tickets and catch a breathe before losing myself for 2 hours and 10 minutes.

Time is really not on my side. I'm busy, busy all day and night and I have not study for my World Issues test. I've work, as usual.

No time to finish reading New Moon, oh gods. It's like Harry Potter HBP all over again. I'm going to start scanning and processing the pages as soon as I have the time before Thursday.

I'm really excited for the big day! I watched the full trailer again and was shocked by the graphics. Wooo, I never managed to catch my breath back. Breathtaking!

As the time draws nearer, I can feel the emotions swelling. If I was in the States, who knows where I'll be for the movie premier? Too bad, I'm in Singapore.

Nearly 1 year since the first twilight saga movie came out, and nearly 4 years since I became a fan.

Re-reading & numbers for New Moon

I'm re-reading New Moon amid the midst of upcoming deadlines to prepare for the movie event.
I've got to say, re-reading the book has brought me a fresh new perspective. It just strengthens the point on why I fall in love with the series in the first place. It's like a breeze in the heat.

After a break of of so many months, flipping open the book brought back so much memories.

I love the descriptions of Edward and Jacob, the emotions and the setting of the scenes.

Edward with his velvety voice, smothering golden eyes and crooked smile, oh my, that is something one can only get in the books. Jacob with his sunny disposition and ability to make everyone feel at ease around him. Now, that's 2 guys who best remain fiction.

One can achieve the settings and backdrop perfectly, but one can seldom get the personality and character right for a movie.

I used to be one of those people who blurred the lines between fiction characters and movie persona. Now, after the bad experience with the movie-who-must-not-be-named, I make sure the lines are not crossed.

Fiction will remain as fiction and they are the best things that could happen. Actors' portrayal of these characters are second or third.

On another note, I have to thank Chris Weitz for a job well-done. I may not have seen the movie, but judging from the general feedback from fans, it was awesome and so much better than the prequel.

Chris Weitz is a hero for sticking up with his beliefs and created a movie that is made for fans, no matter that critics don't like it. I love this quote of his "this was made for the fans, and if you don’t get it, then you don’t get it." How true.

And fans don't disappoint. New Moon movie is moving up the line in the biggest earning movies in 2009 domestic gross (USA). Currently, it's number 6, just $30 million behind Star Trek. http://www.boxofficemojo.com/yearly/chart/?yr=2009&p=.htm

I'll reserve my comments for the big day and will give a scene-by-scene analysis when all is said and done.

When the holidays come, I'll be brainstorming on the design for the countdown clock for Eclipse.

For now though, I've got to face reality with tests and projects.

New Moon latest trailer

Just watching it alone gives me the tingles. Oh my, it's just so gorgeous and I'm not talking about the actors. The visuals, the layout, the music, the action, the characters! Wow!

New plotlines were added into the original story but it seems fine. I'm not sure about the fight between Robert Pattinson and one of the Volturi guards (Felix, maybe). It will provide more action to the film definitely.

Love the red robes of the Volturi! The Volturi are quite nicely done. Jane is portrayed so wonderfully as I said before. Taylor as Jacob is great! I especially love the "visions" or "ghost" of 'Edward' that 'Bella' saw and hear whenever she did something dangerous.

One peeve. What's with the black or "metallic grey" Volvo?! It's quite ugly, to be blunt. I found out that the original Edward's car; a S60R is no longer in production which explains the lack of presence of it during Twilight the movie.

But, can't they find one that is at least silver in colour? Or better still, with their means; I don't think they can’t afford to rent a S60R Volvo from someone. From the C30 in Twilight the movie to a SC60 in New Moon and possibly Eclipse...

While that hardly warrant an outrage from fans, aren’t details to be paid attention to? If they say the colour of the car don’t matter, then what if they got Edward’s hair colour wrong? Or the Cullens’ eye colour and the Volturis’? Please it’s just details, you know, Forks don’t even have to be green. Details, details. To quote the Lex, the bat-mobile has gone purple. It’s like saying it’s ok for Bella to become a hippy.

Kristen Steward’s expressions seems to have improve a little. Most of the scenes still show her to be blank-faced. But the agony scene in bed is very lovely.

New Moon movie is definitely going to be quite the movie of the year after Harry Potter HBP. I can just feel it. Going to re-read New Moon soon and get ready for the December’s release. *Cries* I could have watch it on November only if I visit USA.

Ramblings

Another post for the miscellaneous stuff.

First of all, I wanted to scream! What happen to Fanfiction website!? I need my fix, now!

God, I sure hope it's not my problem, whatever that may be. I don't mind that much if they have maintenance problems or what. Just give me back my Fanfiction by tomorrow morning and everything will be fine.

As of now, thank goodness, Fanfiction is back on. Yay!

I've read many novels so far. I'll probably spend some time reviewing some of the novels these few days. For don't what reason, I don't feel like typing much.

I'm getting depressed. Maybe it's due to the fact that school is reopening soon. Yes, it's immature of me to demand a longer holiday. If the holiday is any longer still, I'll become a worm.

I'm aiming for a total of 1500 posts in the Lex by the time I go back to school. It's not that hard to achieve that, as long as there are people who will play in the 2 threads I frequent.

There is painting work going on in the housing estates. Gone are the sunny red, orange and yellow paint, here comes dreary green and more green. I've seen the sample of the end result, it's really different. It's this mix of greenish-blue and green design.

Oh yes, my cousin finally gave the disc containing the photos of her wedding, with me as her bridesmaid. Some of the pictures are rather flattening, if I must say so myself.

Last but not least, I made some New Moon-inspired banner and avatar today. It's quite different from my usual banners. I'll post them up on Facebook as soon as I edited them and perhaps on here too.

The last day of 2008

The last day of 2008.

Sadly, today, we will not be going to Marina to see the fireworks. Instead, the family will be going to the airport as my father is flying home from Korea in the night.

I will missed 2008, but unlike other years, this time, I'm actually looking forward to 2009.

New Moon movie, here it comes! Yes, I know I said it's too soon for it to be released, but as a fan, I can hardly complaint about the date. Also coming up, Harry Potter and HBP! 2 great, must-watch movies for 2009.

I'm not a party person so those countdown parties do not appeal to me. I like parties (not that I went to one before), like christmas parties, dinner and dance, etc. Anyway, I like to be part of the action and fun in a good way.

It's been a great year, or rather, the later half of 2008 has been great.

What with the publication of Breaking Dawn, release of Twilight the movie, converting my cousin and brother into Twilighters, New Moon movie being official, getting good GPA for Semester 1.1.

Also, memorable things that happened in 2008: my very good friend left for USA to study, hanging out with Secondary 4 friends, Olympics in Beijing, a very bad financial crisis, starting Poly in April, F1 GrandPrix in Singapore for the 1st time, getting a laptop, being a bridesmaid for the 1st time, a black president for USA for the 1st time, etc.

It's always during this time of the year and Christmas too, that the feeling of nostalgia will be the strongest. I'm a very nostalgic person. I like to reminisce the good, old days even the bad ones.

Resolutions or wishes for 2009 include, (in no particular order)

1) Good GPA and grades for semester 1.2, 2.1, 2.2

2) Good health and blessings to me, my family and friends.

3) New Moon movie to be better, bigger, longer than Twilight movie, Taylor Lautner to stay on as Jacob Black. NM movie must be decent and stay true to the book. Watch NM movie at least twice.

4) Buy Twilight movie DVD

5) Watch Harry Potter and HBP

6) Twilight official guide book to be published in Singapore (Buying it, of course)

7) Stephenie Meyer to continue writing Midnight Sun. MS to be published one day (I can wait, so take your time).

8) Get a wolf charm to complete Bella's bracelet. And a wolf/bear/lion plush toy.

9) 2009 to be a better year than 2008. Let the financial crisis and recession cease.

10) Great class for my Junior year in Poly.

Think I will add them to my wishes/hopes list and add on others from there. That's all I can think of now.

2008, I will miss you and the days I have.

Let's welcome the new year, 2009, in just a few hours.

New Moon movie news & 2nd quote

I seriously feel like crying now.

Summit Entertainment is making a big mess out of the whole New Moon movie. Why can't they just stick with things the way it used to be?

I'm praying hard that Taylor Lautner will stay on as Jacob. Please, I'm waiting to see him without his long hair in New Moon. No to anyone who is going to take over Lautner's role, especially that guy ( 26 years old Michael Copon). He's really ***** alright? I can't picture him as Jacob AT ALL. Haha, my brother is saying xxxxx.

For goodness sake, Lautner's face is plastered on T-shirts now, as Jacob. What will happen to these and other mementos if Jacob is changed?

And, New Moon to be release on November 20, 2009? In other circumstances, I will be thrill and pleased. But, now, with the future of New Moon so uncertain and rocky, my happy feelings are overshadowed by them.

It's too early! From what I last heard, filming will only begin in March or April 2009, how in the world can they produce New Moon in such a short period of time?

Some fans are totally put off by these bad news and said that they will boycott New Moon movie, while some said they will try to see how things go in New Moon movie.

Me? I hate all these changes but will still watch it for my love for the book series. If Stephenie Meyer is benefiting from the movies, then I'm all for supporting her.

There's no way I'm boycotting, it has always been my wish to see the twilight saga being made into movies, and screening in the theaters. I have waited so long for Twilight movie to finally be filmed and screen in Singapore. Now, it's New Moon's turn. I really want everything to be true to the book and turn out just fine.

This Thursday, 18th December 2008, is a day filled with "excitement". My brother will know which Secondary School he is going to, my cousin will get her 'N' levels results and of course, Twilight movie outing.

I hope everything will turn out fine. The timings, etc. I'm most probably booking the seats tomorrow night. Golden Village had confirmed with me that new movies timings for Thursday will only be out at tomorrow 6pm.

With reassurances from Stephenie Meyer and Christ Weitz, I feel a little better now. But the final product is another matter altogether. The scirptwriter must do a good job at staying true to the book before the director can do something good out of it.

New director for New Moon movie (Part 2)

To continue with the previous post about the changing of director for New Moon movie.

Summit Entertainment considered filming New Moon and Eclipse back-to-back, to save money. Save money... is that what matters most now?

While I welcome seeing New Moon on the big screen sooner than expected and maybe Eclipse too ( a few months difference), I would gladly wait if it means that more passion and heart is put into filming the movies.
Back-to-back filming is great. It means that the time-lapse between New Moon and Eclipse will not be a big difference and the actors will not look so grown-up too quickly.

With a low budget for Twilight movie, Summit is able to earn big bucks. I hope this is not getting into their heads. Do they honestly think that twice's the charm? Fans are the main cause that Twilight movie becomes one of highest grossing movies.

I've said this once and will say it again. New Moon and Eclipse cannot afford to be low-budget movies. This is one of my main concerns regarding this whole issue about Summit's plans.

Another concern is that whether the new director (whoever you are), will live up to the expectations.

This news' got to be one of the most commented news on www.twilightlexiconblog.com. People's reactions to this, ranges from outrage to neutral (wait-and-see-approach) to happy.

I suppose new director means a new beginning. Also, a new director does not necessary mean a bad thing. Actually, all that I'm worried about is the uncertain future and that the director will mess things up. I think this is what most fans worry too. There's no security now.

I'm in that wait-and-see-approach category. Hoping that the new director will be confirmed soon and that Summit will not drop any more bombshells on us. This is enough to keep us awake.

Today is the start of mid-semester tests. MacroEcons paper at 1pm. This is the one subject I have some interest for and so, have higher expectations for. The problem is, the topics are easy. I must do well for it. At least a B+ but I'm aiming for an A.

Rumoured NM movie with my thoughts

Thought I'd give my opinion, about the rumoured New Moon movie.

Summit Entertainment should definitely filmed New Moon as a movie seeing as Twilight is going to be a big success. Without saying, Eclipse should definitely be included. It's my favourite book in the saga and it will be great to watch with all those emotions floating around, intimacy to a new level and not forgetting the battle at the end where enemies became allies. I'm not too sure about Breaking Dawn though. There are just too many things that will not do justice to the book. Read it and you will know what they are. If Breaking Dawn is made into a movie, there may be scenes that people will not quite accept especially those who are new or not fans of Twilight saga.

Back to the point about New Moon, it's a "hard" book to read, too much emotions. Separation does not do Bella or Edward any good. Majority of the book is about the relationship of Bella and Jacob with Edward returning near the end. New Moon is my least favourite with the exception of Bella and Edward's reunion. Every time I read the book, I will only read that part. But, there's much potential for New Moon being showed as a movie. For instance, we can see what separation does to Bella and Edward whereas in the book, we only saw Bella's point of view. The Volturi scene in Italy will be "fun" (in a weird sort of way) to watch.

However, Summit should be filming them soon or back-to-back because that's when they will be riding high on the waves of success. Also, the actors/actresses are going to get older every year. Not a good idea to wait for too long as vampires aren't supposed to age at all.
Besides, which fan wants to wait for ages to watch a sequel? Like Harry Potter HBP, Warner Bros' not wise to put off the movie to 2009 summer when it's suppose to debut on November 21st 2008.

As a Twilight fan, I, of course, have high expectations for the movie as well. I, like most fans, are protective of the world created by Stephenie Meyer and would not like to see it being made into a laughing stock or scoff at by other people. I know that movie is entirely different to a book but I can't help feeling that way. Typical people will group the saga together with the movie. If the movie is not successful, people who are new will not and may not read the books.

I don't know if I wrote it in here before, but I chanced upon Twilight in a special way. I was randomly picking books in the library back in 2006 and found it accidentally. I was attracted to the book's glossy black cover and after reading the tiny excerpt, borrowed it. From then on, I was and still am a fan of Twilight saga. During that time, Stephenie Meyer and Twilight was still relatively unknown, at least in Singapore. It's a good and bad thing about her being now a worldwide best selling author. Bad in a way that it's too publicise and that special connection with the books is lost somewhat.

To conclude, indeed, even if Twilight the movie and the movies to come are not that successful in terms of filming, I'll still watch them loyally like what I did with Harry Potter. That's right, I fall in the "typical people" category. Not proud of that fact though.

The perfect day

Today was the best day of my life. I went out with my parents in the morning and came back in the evening. It was quite strange as today was a school day. I seemed to be the only teenager walking in Orchard.
My mother went to see her doctor and after lunch, we went to JewelFest 2006. It was so beautiful. I've been looking forward to this every year but this was my first time going there. Finally, New Moon was mine! I went to Borders and was not disappointed. I was so happy that I got the book.
Later, we went to Causeway Point. As my father had a $3500 voucher, we planned to buy furniture with it. But in the end, we ended buying diamond necklaces for me and my mother. It was not the design I wanted but it will do. I like necklaces with patterns, mine was simple.
I can't believe it, I have a diamond necklace...Hooray!
What a lovely day~~ It's everything I wanted!
